Bali Fast Track for Families — Complete Practical Guide
Complete practical guide to using Bali fast track with children, infants, and elderly relatives. Stroller handling, child seat coordination, multi-generational tactics, and budget tips for families.
Bali Fast Track for Families at a Glance
Why Families Particularly Benefit from Fast Track
The math is more favourable for families than for solo travellers. A family of 4 (2 adults + 2 children aged 5 and 9) at Tier 2 Premium with the family discount pays:
- 2 adults × $199 = $398
- 2 children × $100 = $200
- Subtotal: $598
- Minus 10% family discount: $538
For $538, the family of 4 saves ~6 person-hours of queue time during a peak arrival (90 minutes × 4 = 6 hours). That's $89 per hour of family time saved — and "family time" with tired, hungry children waiting in queue is the worst kind of family time.
Beyond raw time savings, fast track eliminates the parental stress of managing children through a 90-minute queue while jetlagged. This is genuinely the highest-value scenario for fast track booking.
By Family Composition — Recommended Tier
Couple + 1 baby (3 pax including infant)
Tier 1 Essential — 2 adults × $55 = $110. Infant free. Total: $110. The line-skip is the main value; lounge and transfer are nice-to-have at this stage.
Couple + 2 toddlers (4 pax)
Tier 2 Premium recommended — 2 adults × $199 + 2 children × $100 = $598 minus 10% = $538. The lounge gives toddlers a place to play and recover; the transfer with child seats is essential.
Couple + 2 school-age kids (4 pax)
Tier 1 or Tier 2 — depends on budget. Tier 1 totals $166 with 10% discount; Tier 2 totals $538. Tier 1 is good value for line-skip only; Tier 2 adds VOA, lounge, transfer.
Multi-gen — 2 adults + 2 kids + 2 grandparents (6 pax)
Tier 2 Premium with family-of-4+ discount strongly recommended. The grandparents need lounge access and reduced standing time. Total: ~$1,000 for 6 people.
Wedding party / celebration travel
10+ pax = use Group Fast Track with custom pricing.
Stroller and Carry-On Strategy
Strollers
Most airlines allow strollers gate-side until boarding. On arrival, your stroller is sent to baggage claim (where standard checked luggage arrives). Bali Fast Tracks greeters retrieve strollers from carousel and reunite the family at the carousel within 4 minutes — you don't have to wait alone with tired children.
Car seats
Indonesian law requires child restraint for ages 0–4. The Premium ($199) and VVIP ($399) tiers include car seat installation in your transfer vehicle. Confirm child age, weight, and seat type at booking. We provide rear-facing for infants and forward-facing convertibles for toddlers/young children.
Multiple carry-on items
Greeters bring porter trolleys for carry-on consolidation. Parents carrying children + diaper bag + strollers + tablets can hand off everything to the greeter for the immigration walk.
Children's Documentation
Each child needs their own passport
No exceptions. Children of any age require their own passport for international travel.
e-VOA per child
Each foreign child requires their own VOA (IDR 500,000 fee per person). Apply for each separately at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. Premium/VVIP tier handles this for all family members.
Bali tourism levy per child
IDR 150,000 per person regardless of age. Family of 4 pays IDR 600,000 (~$40). Pay online at lovebali.baliprov.go.id before flying.
Birth certificates for younger children
Some airlines and immigration officers occasionally request birth certificates for very young children. Carry copies as backup.
Practical Tactics for the Process
Bring entertainment for the brief wait
Even with fast track, there's a 1–2 minute wait at the immigration counter while the officer processes. Have a phone with downloaded video or a small toy to occupy young children.
Time your child's snack
If your child is hungry as you land, they'll be cranky through the process. Time the in-flight snack so they're satiated for the ~10 minutes between deplaning and exiting.
Use the lounge for toilet stops
The lounge has clean family bathrooms and changing facilities. A 30-minute lounge stop with toilet break, snack, and rest is far better than rushing to the hotel.
Coordinate with grandparents in advance
If you're meeting at the arrival hall, share the greeter's photo and contact details with both ends so everyone knows what to expect.
Special Family Scenarios
Infant in arms vs in stroller
Either works. Greeters carry baby supplies and can adjust pace. The diplomatic lane is wheelchair-accessible so any size stroller is fine.
Older sibling helping with younger sibling
Fine. Greeters keep the family group together and won't separate parents from children.
Adopted child with different surname
Bring adoption documentation for any potential immigration questions. Premium tier agents are trained on family documentation edge cases.
Grandparent traveling with grandchild (without parents)
Some immigration officers ask for parental authorisation letter. Bring a notarised letter from parents giving travel permission for the child.
Single parent travelling with children
Some destinations require notarised letter from the absent parent. Indonesia is generally relaxed but check current requirements before flying.
Family Money-Saving Tips
Apply for e-VOAs yourself + Tier 1
If you're confident with online forms, apply for e-VOAs yourself ($32 × 4 = $128) + Tier 1 Essential ($55 × 2 + $28 × 2 = $166 minus 10% = $149). Total: $277 vs Premium $538. Saves $260 but you handle the e-VOA process for the family.
Pay tourism levy yourself
$10 × 4 = $40 saved vs $20 service fee on top.
Use airport-provided wheelchair (free)
For grandparents, request airport wheelchair service when booking. It's free; the diplomatic lane is wheelchair-accessible.
Book direct, not via agent
Travel agents charging extra for fast track typically mark up 20–40%. Book direct at balifasttracks.com.What If Things Go Wrong
Child gets sick on the plane
Greeter helps escort to medical room (DPS has a clinic) before continuing the process. Bali Fast Tracks operations team can also help arrange in-Bali medical care if needed during your stay.
Child has meltdown in queue
Greeters carry small comfort items (stickers, sweets if age-appropriate). Pace can pause briefly. The diplomatic lane is calmer and quieter than the standard queue, which helps.
Family separated by gate exit
Greeter recombines the family at the immigration entrance. Greeters know to wait for stragglers.
Lost child in airport
Stay calm. Airport security has CCTV throughout. Notify greeter immediately; they have radio contact with airport security. Most reunifications happen within 5–10 minutes.
